With the aim of promoting the tourism of Nepal, Nepal formally announced 2073 BS/2016 AD as the Ghumphir Barsa or Nepal Travel Year that will be based on the local Nepali Calender beginning right from April 13.

After the Blizzard in Annapurna Region in 2014, Avalanche in Everest Region in 2014, Massive Earthquake in April 2015 and Indian Unofficial Economic blockade, Nepal tourism had been paralysed. The number of tourist visited during these year was very less but after one year of Earthquake, tourism of Nepal is back on its way and there is a big hope to regain the tourism industry in its own way as before. So Nepal Tourism Board has launched "Ghumphir Barsa 2073" to promote domestic tourism and Nepal Government has announced Visit Nepal Year 2018 to promote whole tourism.
